The inspectors include Nagaraj of the Vellore north police station and the special branch inspector Ashok Kumar attached to the Vellore district police office, sources revealed.

The early part of the day was rife with rumours that their removal from active posts would be followed by vigilance raids at their homes. While the removal orders were issued by the north zone IG R Nagaraj, an enquiry by IG Intelligence has been ordered, sources revealed.

While inspector Nagaraj was known for having greasy fingers, what surprised many was special branch inspector Ashok Kumar being moved out of active duty. The latter was SP Pravesh Kumar’s Special Branch (SB) inspector and was the ‘go to’ person regarding any issues pertaining in the Vellore district.

In fact, police interactions with the press were handled by the SB SI as Ashok Kumar would always be active getting intelligence reports on various issues for the SP and forwarding it to Chennai.
