2 held for hoarding 200 domestic cylinders for commercial use

COIMBATORE: Salem police seized 200 LPG domestic cylinders used illegally for commercial purpose from a godown in Salem on Tuesday night.

Police handed over the cylinders to Civil Supplies CID officials.

Acting on a tip off, a police team raided a godown at Annadanapatti and seized the cylinders used illegally for commercial purposes.

Equipment used for transferring LPG from domestic to commercial cylinders were also seized.

Following inquiries, the police took into custody Manikkam, (67) and his son Shankar (34), who were then handed over to Civil Supplies CID for inquiry.

The duo had purchased LPG cylinders from households by paying Rs 200 extra for a cylinder and sold them for commercial use.
