The film was released on January 9. Initially, an unknown person had spread HD prints of the film on WhatsApp in three parts, urging people to share the film to the maximum number of people through a voice message to blow the box office collection.

Meanwhile, on January 12 evening, the pirated version of Darbar was telecast illegally at Sindupatti in Madurai on a local television channel identified as Saranya TV. Subsequently, Lyca Productions lodged a complaint against the TV channel. Lyca Productions also appealed for severe action against the accused. A separate complaint was also lodged against Saranya TV by Rajini Makkal Mandram.

The Usilampatti police arrested Kubendran from Eachampatti and Suresh from Vagurani on Monday. Meanwhile, the police also secured Manimaran and Jayapal, partners of Saranya TV. Further investigations are on.
