144 ATM cards, cash seized from Vellore man

VELLORE: A total of 144 ATM cards and cash to the tune of Rs 35,000 was seized following the arrest of a man in Vellore south police station limits on Friday.

The accused was identified as Suresh (36), of Vaduganthangal village in Katpadi taluk.

He was apprehended on suspicion. On seeing police checking vehicles, he tried to turn his two-wheeler and leave.

Under interrogation, he confessed cheating Maiichan (65) of Rs 40,000 under the guise of helping him retrieve money from an ATM near the national theatre junction.

He was remanded in custody by Vellore Judicial magistrate II on Saturday.
