West Indies on top of England

The West Indies removed the England top-order and had its host at 131 for four at tea on the opening day of the third and final Test at Old Trafford here.

Kemar Roach took two wickets for 28 runs, including clean bowling Ben Stokes (20), and a slip catch, which accounted for the wicket of Rory Burns (57). The West Indies looked to get among the lower-order after England sacrificed a batsman in its line-up.

England all-rounder Stokes looked uncomfortable at the crease as he struggled with a quadriceps strain, picked up during his second Test heroics, and made only 20 runs. He was cleverly set up by Roach, who produced a perfect in-swinging delivery to strike down the stumps. Skipper Joe Root (17) was the second wicket to fall after being caught short.

Brief scores: England 131 for 4 in 53 overs (R Burns 57, K Roach 2/28) vs West Indies.
