CHENNAI: Chennai Super Kings shared a picture of former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has made a surprise visit to Chennai on Friday. The team claimed that it was an unexpected trip for him.

Sharing the picture, the IPL team captioned, "Touchdown Anbuden! Unexpected #ThalaDharisanam to make our day! ???????? #WhistlePodu #Yellove ????????." (sic)

In the picture, Dhoni was seen sporting a white t-shirt and a black mask as he made his way out of the Chennai airport late evening.

Earlier in September, the former Indian captain created a buzz when he took to his Facebook post and teased fans about a special announcement.

Dhoni was part of the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022. CSK under Dhoni's captaincy won the now-defunct Champions League title twice, in 2010 and 2014 respectively. However, CSK was not able to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2022 and Dhoni had to take over the captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja mid-way during the season.

CSK's franchise CEO Kasi Vishwanathan earlier confirmed that MS Dhoni will continue to lead the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
