MCFC’s Lobera expects difficult game vs NEUFC

Mumbai City FC (MCFC), managed by Spaniard Sergio Lobera, would look to start on the front foot when it takes on NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) in its Indian Super League (ISL) Season 7 opening match here on Saturday.

City Football Group-owned MCFC possesses quality Indian and foreign players. Up front, Mumbai City boasts of on-loan Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC) forward Bartholomew Ogbeche and Englishman Adam le Fondre.

The effective Hugo Boumous, Ahmed Jahouh, Raynier Fernandes and Rowllin Borges could play key roles in the middle of the park.

The defence is a bit of a concern as there is no update on Senegalese centre-back Mourtada Fall, the only overseas player in that department. Captain Amrinder Singh will take the place between the sticks.

“It will be a difficult game. I am working hard with the players. This will be the most competitive ISL season as there are many good teams,” said Lobera in the pre-match press conference. Up against a quality outfit, Gerard Nus-managed NorthEast would hope to create an upset of sorts very early in the seventh season.
