John stars in Everwin’s victory

E John Christopher (201 not out) struck an unbeaten double-century as Everwin MHSS thrashed Velammal Vidyashram (Ambattur) by 268 runs in the Thiruvallur DCA-Apollo Tyres Under-16 Inter-School Knockout Tournament.

Batting first, John took the attack to the opposition from the word go, smashing 30 boundaries during his 122-ball knock. Riding on John’s double-ton, the first of the tournament, Everwin posted a mammoth total of 314 for three on the board after its stipulated overs.


Chasing a huge score, Velammal Vidyashram was no match to its rival as it was bowled out for a paltry 46 in 19.5 overs. In another match, right-arm medium pacer CS Mukundan (6/16) bagged a six-wicket haul to guide Velammal (Mugappair) to a seven-wicket victory over Everwin Vidyashram.

Everwin Vidyashram 61 all-out in 21 overs (CS Mukundan 6/16) lost to Velammal (Mugappair) 65 for 3 in 11 Overs (B Bharath 28*).
