Chirag (13:32.919) held off Agra’s Shahan Ali Mohsin (13:34.252), another 17-year-old, for his maiden win in the category while Rishon Rajiv (13:35.164) of Bengaluru, 16, finished third in the eight-lap race. The trio of youngsters was in a league of its own, in a field that had quite a few experienced drivers.
“It was a tough contest when Shahan caught up with me, but I realised that he was unable to narrow the gap any further. So, I dictated the pace,” said Chirag, who had qualified for pole position. Veteran and defending champion Arjun Balu (15:19.312) of Race Concepts was in imperious form throughout as he won the premier Indian Touring Cars race from pole position with ease.
Anindith Reddy (15:46.386) and Jeet Jhabakh (15:54.693), two Rayo Racing drivers, finished a distant second and third respectively. Performance Racing’s Deepak Ravikumar (16:09.974) and Varun Anekar (16:04.162) of Race Concepts topped in the Super Stock and Indian Junior Touring Cars respectively.
