CCFC’s only appearance in the AFC Cup this season was against Maziya Sports and Recreation Club of Maldives, at home in March. The second-tier club tournament had been suspended since March due to the health crisis and was supposed to resume this month.

“In view of the logistics in co-ordinating the five zones of the AFC Cup and completing the Inter-Zone matches, the Executive Committee agreed that the pandemic created complexities, which included a Force Majeure event and led to the cancellation of the 2020 competition,” AFC said in a statement.

However, the AFC Champions League, which has also been suspended since March, will restart in Qatar on September 14. The AFC Futsal Championship will now be held in December, while the AFC Solidarity Cup and the AFC Futsal Club Championship have also been cancelled along with the AFC Cup.
