CHENNAI: The TVK on Wednesday alleged inadequate security for party chief Vijay, who comes under 'Y' category protection, during his campaign in Perambur after filing the nomination papers on March 30.

In a letter addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam joint general secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar expressed concern over the alleged security lapse for Vijay during the election campaign in Perambur, here, and sought the minister's "urgent attention" on the issue.

He requested Shah to direct the police to provide adequate protection and effectively manage the traffic during Vijay's campaign and public meetings in the state, the TVK said.

The Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 23.
