TIRUCHY: Tiruchy Income Tax officials seized Rs 50 lakh from the house of a close relative of Lalagudi TVK candidate Ku Pa Krishnan which was reportedly stocked for the distribution to the voters.

On a tip off that a huge money has been hoarded for the distribution to the voters in Lalgudi constituency in Tiruchy, the Lalgudi Tahsidhar and Returning Officer Tamil Selvan and officials went to the house of Neelamegam, brother in law of Lalgudi TVK candidate and former AIADMK minister Ku Pa Krishnan and searched the house on Thursday late hours in which the officials found that there was huge stock of money.

Since it is mandatory to inform the Income Tax officials if Rs 10 lakh and above was found, the Returning Officer passed on the information to the IT officials who reached the spot and found that there was a stock of Rs 50 lakh. The IT officials demanded for documents but Neelamegam could not produce it but gave some contradictory statements and soon the officials seized the entire money. Further inquiries are on.
