CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is increasingly being seen as a force for change, urging BJP cadre in Tamil Nadu to intensify grassroots outreach and connect with young voters ahead of the elections.

Interacting with booth-level committee members from across the State via video conference, Modi underscored the centrality of booth functionaries in shaping electoral outcomes.

"The NDA is being viewed by the people as an alliance for change. Even without being in power in Tamil Nadu, we have undertaken significant development works. If a double-engine government is formed, the pace of development will multiply," Modi said, calling on party workers to take this message to first-time voters and youth in particular.

He asked the cadre to organise themselves in small groups, reach out directly to voters and explain how central schemes have delivered benefits without intermediaries. "We must ensure that the youth understand what has been achieved in the last decade and what more can be done," he said.

Targeting the DMK, Modi alleged that despite being part of the Union government between 2004 and 2014, the party failed to bring substantial development projects to Tamil Nadu. He further charged that corruption has become an integral part of governance under the present regime, with irregularities reported across sectors and cases pending against several ministers.
