Vice President unveils Hindi autobiography of surgical pioneer Dr C Palanivelu

Radhakrishnan also noted that releasing the autobiography in Hindi would help a wider audience draw inspiration from his journey from modest beginnings to global recognition.

CHENNAI: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan released the Hindi edition of noted laparoscopic surgeon Dr C Palanivelu’s autobiography ‘Palanivelu GUTS’, at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi on Monday marking 40 years of Dr Palanivelu’s contribution to modern surgery.

Senior dignitaries, including Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh and National Medical Commission Chairperson Abhijat Sheth, were present.

Recalling his role in introducing laparoscopic surgery in Coimbatore in the early 1990s, the VP said, “Dr Palanivelu was among the earliest in India to recognise its potential and establish dedicated centres, expanding access to advanced procedures. His life is a testimony to perseverance, ethical commitment and service to society.”

Radhakrishnan also noted that releasing the autobiography in Hindi would help a wider audience draw inspiration from his journey from modest beginnings to global recognition.

Dr Palanivelu said that the book reflected the principles that had guided his life and career. “The idea was not merely to perform surgeries, but to change lives,” he said “Hope the book encourages youngsters to pursue excellence with integrity.”
