CHENNAI: A new train service will be introduced between Tirupati and Chikkamagaluru via Katpadi and Jolarpettai following the approval of the Railway Board (RB).
Weekly express train no. 17423 Tirupati - Chikkamagaluru (via Katpadi and Jolarpettai) will leave Tirupati on Thursdays at 9 pm on and reach Chikkamagaluru at 10.30 am the next day from July 17.
Weekly express train no. 17424 Chikkamagaluru - Tirupati (via Jolarpettai and Katpadi) will leave Chikkamagaluru on Fridays at 5.30 pm on and reach Tirupati at 7.40 am the next day from July 18.
The trains will consist of two AC tier-II, four AC tier-III, six sleeper class coaches and four general second class coaches and a second class coach (Divyangajan Friendly) and a luggage cum brake van.
Train no. 17423 leaving Tirupati at 9 pm on Thursday will stop at Katpadi and Jolarpettai at 11.08 pm and 12.28 am, respectively. Train no. 17424 leaving Chikkamagaluru at 5.30 pm on Fridays will stop at Jolarpettai and Katpadi at 3.25 am and 5 am on Saturday.
