Worker injured after falling from 20-foot ladder in cinema hall

The injured worker was identified as M Ijaz Ahmed (23), a native of Uttar Pradesh. He was residing at Kathiravan Colony, Shenoy Nagar.

CHENNAI: A 23-year-old painter suffered grievous injuries after falling from a height of about 20 feet while working at a cinema hall in Vadapalani on Saturday morning (January 24).

The injured worker was identified as M Ijaz Ahmed (23), a native of Uttar Pradesh. He was residing at Kathiravan Colony, Shenoy Nagar.

Police said that Ahmed and other workers were engaged in painting work at a cinema hall located inside a commercial complex in Vadapalani for the past few days. On Saturday morning, he was painting the false ceiling area in the projector room while standing on a ladder at a height of around 20 feet when he suddenly lost his balance and fell to the ground.

He sustained severe injuries and was immediately taken by co-workers to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Vadapalani police have registered a case and begun an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident.
