With over Rs 3,400 crore, Chennai Division’s revenue up by almost 6%

The division achieved freight loading of 8.088 million tonnes up to December 2025, which is a 10.7% improvement over the same period of last year

CHENNAI: The Southern Railway’s Chennai Division, which serves 12.39 lakh passengers daily, earned a revenue of Rs 3,496 crore up to December 2025, registering a 5.9% improvement over the same period of last year, said Shailendra Singh, divisional railway manager, during the Republic Day celebrations here on Monday.

The division achieved freight loading of 8.088 million tonnes up to December 2025, which is a 10.7% improvement over the same period of last year.

“The division runs 88% of all trains punctually. A total of 106 lifts and 64 escalators were constructed and pay-and-use toilets at 54 stations were commissioned. Automatic ticket vending machines are installed at 58 locations, supported by 114 facilitators and free emergency medical care at three stations. Also women facilitation centres with baby feeding rooms and child helpline booths are available at five stations in the division,” he explained.
