The deceased was identified as Nirmal, who was visually impaired.

According to police, Nirmal was finding it difficult to discharge his duties as a VAO because of his bad eye sight. He had also told his parents that the job may not be suitable for him since he was finding it difficult to address the issues of people as a VAO who approached him for help.

He was the VAO of Konnanur village in Gumudipoondi and stayed in Samireddy Kandigai village. He was a native of Tiruchy.

On Tuesday evening, Nirmal’s parents went back to their native in Tiruchy after he allegedly hanged himself, police said.
