CHENNAI: As the Vinayakar Chaturthi celebrations, held with fervour after two years, draws to a close, devotees would take Lord Ganesha idols installed at their localities to the beach for the immersion ritual on Sunday. Since hordes of people would take a procession towards beaches the Chennai traffic police have announced restrictions in certain areas to facilitate the ritual.

Accordingly, permission is given to immerse idols at Pattinampakkam, Kasimedu, Thiruvottriyur and Neelankarai beaches from 12 pm to 8 pm on Sunday.
