51 sovereign gold ornaments looted from VAO’s house in Padappai

The complaint was filed in the Manimangalam police station and the police have registered a case and investigating to nab the intruders with the help of CCTV.

CHENNAI: Unidentified intruders looted at least 51-sovereign gold ornaments from a house of village administrative officer (VAO) in Padappai on Tuesday.

Hemalatha of Karasangal near Padappai is a VAO of the Valaiyakaranai village and her husband works in a private telecom firm.

On Saturday, the couple had gone to Kancheepuram to attend a relative’s wedding. When they returned on Monday night, they returned home to find the main door broken.

They went in and saw that intruders had broken the locker in the house and looted 51 sovereigns of gold ornaments along with Rs 5000 cash. They filed a complaint in the Manimangalam police station. Investigation is going on.
