The deceased David Antony was secured in Dharmapuri on December 5 on suspicion and an investigation revealed that he did not have documents to validate his stay. He was arrested and lodged in the sub-jail in Poonamallee.

However, on Wednesday morning, he suddenly collapsed and the fellow inmates alerted the jailor. David Antony was rushed to Poonamallee government hospital but was declared brought dead.

His body was sent to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for postmortem.

Poonamallee police have registered a case and further investigation is on. When contacted, an officer said that cause of death will be known only after postmortem.

It may be recalled that 41-year-old Mahalingam, who was arrested for peddling ganja, had died in Saidapet sub-jail two weeks ago.
