The deceased were identified as Manikandan (25) of Perumbakkam and Elumalai (21) of Kannagi Nagar. Both were working in the housekeeping department at a private IT company in OMR.

Police said on Sunday evening, Manikandan and Elumalai went to meet their friend Padma (28) in Guduvanchery, who had earlier worked with them in the same company.

Police said Padma’s husband Ashok Kumar was alone in the house since she had gone to her mother’s house. Since they know Padma’s husband very well because they had visited the house on earlier occasions they asked him to permit to stay in their house for a night.

Ashok Kumar allowed them to stay and said that he was going to pick Padma from her parents’ house in Medavakkam and would return home on Monday morning.

In the morning when Ashok Kumar returned with Padma they found the house locked from inside and there was no response to the knocks. When checked through the window both of them were found hanging from the ceiling in separate sarees, belonging to Padma.

On information, Guduvanchery police visited the spot and sent the body for post-mortem to the Chengalpet government hospital. The police have registered a case and are investigating the motive behind their extreme step.
