Two killed as car rams median

Two men, who were part of a group of friends heading to Tada falls to celebrate Pongal, died after their car rammed the median on Chennai-Kolkata highway in the wee hours of Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Bipin (29) of Retteri and Yugeshkumar (29) of Ayanavaram, while their friends, Yuvaraj (29) and Siddique (31) of Kolathur, have been admitted to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Bipin, who was driving the car, is said to have lost control and rammed the median near Gorimedu near Gummidipoondi around 3 am. On information, the Gummidipoondi police retrieved the bodies and sent it for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is on. The accident led to the traffic snarl on Chennai-Kolkata highway for more than an hour.
