Two held for attempt to murder in Mylapore

CHENNAI: City Police on Saturday arrested two youths on attempt to murder charges after they inflicted grievous injuries on a man in Mylapore, due to alleged previous enmity.

S Dharma Arasu (24), a resident of Annai Sathya Nagar in Abhiramapuram was standing near a Tasmac outlet on Canal bank road, Mylapore when the two youths who came on a bike attacked him with weapons.

The incident happened on Friday evening, police said. The duo took Dharma Arasu by surprise and attacked him with a knife and other weapons they were carrying, leaving him in a pool of blood and fled the scene.

Onlookers rescued the man and got him admitted at a government hospital, where is undergoing treatment. Based on his complaint, Mylapore police on Saturday arrested two youths- N Ajith Kumar (23) of Triplicane and N Surya (19) of Kodambakkam. A knife and a two wheeler were seized from the duo.

They were produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
