The victim, Arthi (20), a college graduate from Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district, was waiting with relatives near a bus stand gate on Thursday. The group was en route to Andhra Pradesh. At around noon, two unidentified men on a two-wheeler approached her, snatched the one sovereign gold chain she was wearing, and sped away.

Based on a complaint filed by Arthi, a special team from the CMBT police station, led by an Inspector, launched an immediate investigation. Their efforts led to the arrest of the two accused within hours.
