TVK supporter heading to conference dies in road accident in Chennai

The accident happened near AG DMS Metro Rail station around 6.30 am, when an unidentified lorry collided with their two-wheeler.

CHENNAI: A 20-year-old youth on his way to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) conference in Vikravandi died while his friend sustained injuries after a tipper lorry knocked down their bike near AG-DMS Metro rail station on Sunday morning. The police said the accident occurred around 6.30 am when the youth were going to Vikravandi to attend the first State conference of TVK launched by actor-politician Vijay.

The police identified the deceased youth as Vasanth Kumar (20) and the injured youth as Riyaz (17). Both of them are residents of Parrys Corner. The accident happened early in the day and the truck fled the spot after hitting the two-wheeler.

A passerby alerted the authorities after which police rushed to the scene and moved the injured to the hospital where Vasanth was declared as brought dead.

Pondy Bazaar Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) has registered a case and an investigation is underway.
