Traffic diversions on Anna Salai-Smith Road junction from Sept 10

Vehicles coming from Spencer junction and from Pattulas Road will be allowed to take ‘U’ turn at Smith Road junction to reach Anna Salai incoming direction.

CHENNAI: City Traffic police said that the trial run of traffic diversion on Anna Salai- Smith Road junction which was in place for the past three months will be made permanent from September 10, after positive response from motorists and vehicle users.

Accordingly, vehicles coming from Spencer plaza junction can take Smith Road to reach Whites road and the vehicles coming from Tower Clock junction will be allowed through Pattulas road to reach Anna Salai.

Vehicles coming from Spencer junction and from Pattulas Road will be allowed to take ‘U’ turn at Smith Road junction to reach Anna Salai incoming direction.

The straight going vehicles towards Anna flyover can move continuously without any stoppage at Smith Road signal.

After this diversion Smith Road signal will be closed and traffic will move freely without any stoppage at this signal, an official release said.

These efforts are to ease traffic flow and to avoid traffic snarls on Anna Salai. Diversions were already made at Annasalai x Dams road junction and at Annasalai x Thiru-Vi-Ka road junction, which got positive reviews by the motorists, police said.
