CHENNAI: Two men and a juvenile were arrested on Friday for possession of a large quantity of prescription painkiller tablets, allegedly sourced from Mumbai.

The Ice House police seized 4,200 tablets — including 4,000 Tidol and 200 Nitravet tablets — during an operation near Krishnampet. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted surveillance near a cremation ground and intercepted three individuals behaving suspiciously. A search revealed the tablets, which were concealed for intended sale.

The arrested have been identified as Munir Basha (27), and Syed Basheer (20) – residents of Triplicane. A 17-year-old minor accompanying them was also detained.

Inquiries suggested the tablets were procured from Mumbai for distribution. The two adults were presented before a court, while the minor is set to be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board
