Three college students on trip, drown in Mahabalipuram beach

As the sea was rough and high tides were present, the trio got washed away into the waters

CHENNAI: Three college students drowned in the sea in Mahabalipuram on Friday.

Police said a group of 17 students who were studying Bcom final year in a private college in Anna Nagar in Chennai visited Mahabalipuram on Friday morning.

In the evening the students went swimming on the beach and at that time three students Prakash, Goutham, and Roshan drowned in the sea.

Soon the local villagers tried to rescue the students and meanwhile the Mahabalipuram police and the rescue team were also alerted.

Later in the night, the body of Roshan (21) was recovered from the shore and on Saturday morning the bodies of Prakash and Goutham were found on the shore in ECR.

The Mahabalipuram police sent the bodies for post-mortem to the Chengalpattu GH and the police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
