CHENNAI: Did the Chennai police induct three Formula One legends from the Ferrari stable into its canine squad?

As the force said the three Belgian Shepherd pups that were inducted into the sniffer dog squad on Wednesday were named Carlos, Charles and Lando by Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore, netizens were curious if the Commissioner was an F1 fan, as those are the first names of racers Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc and Lando Morris.

However, sources close to Commissioner Rathore told DT Next that the names were chosen at random.

There are 21 sniffer dogs with GCP's canine squad, of which 14 specialise in bomb detection, ensuring quick and accurate identification of potential threats. Six dogs are used for crime detection and one for drug detection.
