CHENNAI: The decomposed bodies of a father and daughter were discovered near Avadi on Thursday, four months after their deaths – one died of a renal ailment and the other murdered. Investigations have revealed that the daughter was killed by the doctor who was overseeing the father’s dialysis.
According to police, Samuel Shankar, 78, a resident of Vellore, was undergoing dialysis following kidney failure. He was living with his daughter, Cynthia, 37, in a rented apartment at Thirumullaivoyal. As bizarre as it goes, the apartment was owned by Samuel's doctor, Ebenezer.
The house had remained locked for the past few months, with the bodies inside all the while. Their deaths would have stayed unknown if the neighbours and relatives had not sensed a foul smell emanating from the house.
After they informed the police, they arrived at the scene and broke open the door and found the decomposed bodies of Samuel and Cynthia. The bodies were sent to Kilpauk Government Hospital for postmortem.
The police have arrested the doctor Ebenezer, who was overseeing Samuel's dialysis treatment.
Initial investigations have revealed that Samuel had passed away in September while undergoing treatment. Upset by her father’s passing, Cynthia entered into a heated argument with the doctor, who was sharing the apartment with them. The doctor told Cynthia of his plans to go overseas. This too infuriated her. During the argument, Ebenezer pushed her, causing her death. Fearing the consequences, he locked the house, with the bodies inside, and fled, police said.
