T Nagar police provide neck bands to women shoppers to protect them from snatchers

T Nagar police are distributing neck bands for women to protect their jewels from miscreants in the crowd thronging T Nagar to shop for Deepavali. People entering the famous Ranganathan Street will be given the neck band which would cover the neck up to the chest.

Women exiting Ranganathan street should return the band, said police. While police have made 1,000 such bands by getting spare materials from showrooms and stitching it with the help of tailors. Police have plans to make more such bands anticipating more crowd as Deepavali nears. Though the government discourages people to throng shops, almost all the shopping hubs are witnessing more footfalls now.
