The police said that Mary went for duty on Monday morning. When Alwin did not come out of his room for a long time and failed to respond to his mother knocking on the door, she looked through the window and found him hanging from the ceiling. She alerted his brother John, who was staying in the same house. John broke-open the door and rushed Alwin to a private hospital, where the doctor declared him brought dead.

On information, the Shankar Nagar police arrived at the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination to Chromepet Government Hospital. Sources said that Alwin used to quarrel with Mary as he did not approve of her going for night duty.

The Shankar Nagar police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
