Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the state working committee meeting here, she said “Congress party which now very active in protesting over the issue, had failed to be neutral while it was in power earlier on this issue.”

She added that acts of violence were spreading fast in the state and the government must concentrate on maintaining law and order and “curb the gun culture in the state.”

Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan said “Centre will take necessary action to bring Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. A few parties are blowing up the issue out of proportion to gain short term political mileage.”
