Stalin, Guv pays floral tribute to Gandhi on his 153rd birth anniv

After garlanding the statue, the Governor and the Chief Minister listened to the music concert performed by members of Sarvodaya Sangh.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi and Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday paid respect to Mahatma Gandhi on his 154th birth anniversary by garlanding his statue in Egmore government museum.

After garlanding the statue, the Governor and the Chief Minister listened to the music concert performed by members of Sarvodaya Sangh.

As part of Gandhi Jayanti function series of events were organised by the state government starting from a cycle rally, sale of Khadi and handloom products and so on. The cycle rally commenced from Kamaraj road and ended in Gandhi memorial. The rally was flagged off by Ministers Ma Subramanian, P K Sekar Babu and M P Saminathan.

The event named 'Kai Kuduppom Khadikkum Kaitharikkum' (meaning: will support Khadi and Handlooms) was flagged off by Handlooms Minister R Gandhi at a private university. The event was launched with the objective of achieving Rs 1 crore sale in a single day.
