Snatchers shove woman in T Nagar

CTV footage of a bike-borne duo shoving a woman in an attempt to snatch her gold chain on Friday morning went viral. The victim, in a separate video, stated that the miscreants, who stopped a few metres away, also threatened passers-by with a long machete to deter them from trying to nab them.

The victim was identified as Shanthala of Rajambal Street in T Nagar. She was going for a walk on Friday morning on GN Chetty Road when two men followed her from behind on a two-wheeler. They tried to snatch her chain under the flyover but could not get hold of it. The pillion rider pulled her by the churidar and Shanthala, who lost balance, fell on the road.

While the CCTV footage of the incident went viral on Saturday, the victim released a separate video in which she claimed that the duo stopped a few metres away to look back at her and took out a long machete to threaten passers-by. She also showed her injuries.

The Pondy Bazaar police said that the victim initially did not lodge a complaint but after the CCTV footage went viral, a written complaint was filed.
