Slumboys’ squad returns from Donosti Cup

The Dreamfooters team returned from Donosti Cup, an international youth soccer tournament at San Sebastian, Spain, where they participated under the B12 category recently.

In the league round comprising of four matches, they lost their first two matches and came back strongly in their third match to register their first win against a Spanish soccer team by 7-3. The squad comprised boys from various parts of the country, from Chennai, Kolkata, Tuticorin, Nagpur and Gudalur. They were the best performing players from Gamesa Soccer League tournament, a joint initiative by Gamesa, a renewable energy company in the country and Slum Soccer, an NGO that aims at providing a better life to kids from humble backgrounds through the game of football.

This initiative aims to empower rural children across India by boosting their confidence and minimises their vulnerability towards life’s uncertainties.
