Six held in different parts of city with 13 stolen bikes

A gang of three who stole bikes in the city according to the orders received in WhatsApp groups and sold them outside city have been arrested. As many as 10 expensive bikes, including six Royal Enfields, were seized from them.

The accused were identified as A Mohammed Shabi (27) of Thanjavur, T Sibi (23) of Thiruvananthapuram and L Amir Jhan (36) of Virudhunagar. Police said the trio used to steal bikes and then flee to their native towns.

“Shabi and Sibi met Amir when they were staying in Mannadi. They would sell the stolen vehicle for Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 claiming that the documents of the vehicles went missing,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, Porur-SRMC police have arrested two men for stealing bikes in and around Porur and Mangadu. The accused V Subash (25) and E Kamesh (18) of Pammal were remanded after two stolen bikes were seized from them.

Similarly, Madhavaram police too arrested a two-wheeler thief and seized a stolen two-wheeler from him. E Vijay (27) of Ulundurpet was remanded.
