Signal failure: Chennai Beach-Tambaram trains delayed

CHENNAI: Suburban electric trains plying on the Chennai Beach-Tambaram route were delayed by half an hour on Friday.

Suburban electric trains were stopped sporadically due to delay caused by signal failure. People going to offices, students going to schools and colleges and the general public suffered due to this issue. Later, suburban electric trains were operated as usual as the signal problem was rectified.

Meanwhile, the Chennai Division of Southern Railway decided to double platform ticket fare for the upcoming festival season with effect from 1st October 2022 to 31st January 2023 in the following eight major railway stations of Chennai Division to ensure the comfort of bona fide passengers and to avoid overcrowding.
