Sewage overflow likely in Chennai due to pipe laying works

According to a Metrowater press release, pipe laying work will be taken up on Corporation Road in Perungudi between 11 am on August 26 and 11 am on August 28. Due to works, pumping stations on LB Road and 33 pumping stations in Teynampet and Adyar zones.

CHENNAI: Underground sewage lines may overflow in several parts of the city as the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Metrowater) to shut down operations of sewage pumping stations in several parts of the city temporarily due to pipe laying works.

According to a Metrowater press release, pipe laying work will be taken up on Corporation Road in Perungudi between 11 am on August 26 and 11 am on August 28. Due to works, pumping stations on LB Road and 33 pumping stations in Teynampet and Adyar zones.

"If sewer lines in Teynampet, Adyar and Perungudi zones overflow due to the works, measures have been taken to remove sewage using machines, " the release added.

Residents can contact 8144930909 (Teynampet), 8144930913 (Adyar) and 8144930914 (Perungudi) to report sewage overflow.
