CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Thursday directed the complainants who leveled cheating allegations against State EB Minister V Senthil Balaji and his associates to file their response in a plea filed by the minister to quash the case.

The complainants filed complaints saying that while Senthil Balaji served as the Transport Minister had cheated the formers by getting money with a promise to offer jobs in the State Transport Department.

Justice V Sivagnanam passed the directions on hearing the petition filed by the minister to quash the case pending before the special court trying cases related to MPs and MLAs.

The State wanted a direction to set aside the interim stay against the probe. The ED requested the High Court to implead it as one of the respondents in the case.

However, the counsel representing Senthil Balaji submitted that in how many cases the ED made a request to array it as a respondent.

Recording the submissions, the judge directed the complainants to file their responses in the case.
