Chennai: Trans person arrested for murder of wage worker

CHENNAI: The city police have arrested a trans person on murder charges after an elderly man, Sekar, who was assaulted by her in Abhiramapuram a week ago, succumbed to injuries at a hospital.

Sekar worked menial jobs, and on August 7, he picked up an argument with the accused, Manoj alias Jessica (19), near a shop.

In the melee, she assaulted and pushed him to the ground, causing him head injuries.

He was admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital and later shifted to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Abhiramapuram police station altered the sections to murder and arrested Manoj alias Jessica. She was produced before the court on Monday and remanded in judicial custody.
