A team led by DSP Ramesh, which was involved in vehicle check at the integrated check post at Elavur near Gummidipoondi, intercepted a luxury bus coming from Vijayawada to Chennai. One of the passengers, identified as Sambasiva Rao of Silakkalurpet in Andhra Pradesh, had two huge bags. When it was checked the police team found them filled with cash – Rs 92 lakh in total. When inquired, Sambasiva Rao told the police that he was on his way to Chennai to buy gold with the cash. However, as he did not have proper documents to account for the money, it was seized from him. Sambasiva Rao has been detained at Arumbakkam police station.
