Red Buli from Netherlands found in air parcel

In yet another instance of narcotics from abroad being smuggled by air parcel, Customs officials seized high-dose ecstasy pills code named Red Buli that arrived from The Netherlands at the foreign post office. The pills were estimated to be worth about Rs 3 lakh.

Based on intelligence, Air Customs picked up a postal parcel that arrived from the Netherlands based on suspicion that it contained drugs. On examination, the parcel was found to contain pink colour pills, which were suspected to be MDMA, a narcotics substance. As many as 100 MDMA pills valued at Rs 3 lakh were recovered and seized under the NDPS Act.

These hexagonal pills are commonly known as ‘Red Buli’ have a ‘bull’ stamp on one side. It contains around 250 mg of MDMA, which is usually a very high dose. In a statement, the Air Customs cited an instance in English in February in which a man died and a woman was seriously ill after consuming Red Buli pill.

The consignee address was found to be fake, officials said, adding that investigations were on.
