CHENNAI: As part of the Madras Week celebrations, Murugappa Group is bringing back the Madras Quiz, one of the city’s popular Madras Week traditions.
This year’s theme, Manasellaam Madras, Vibe-ellaam Chennai, celebrates the city’s old-world charm and its changing identity.
The Madras Quiz for Schools will be held on August 23, from 10 am to 1 pm at Victoria Public Hall. Open to students in Classes 10, 11, and 12, the quiz will cover Chennai’s history, culture, landmarks, and personalities.
The winning teams will receive prizes worth up to Rs 20,000. The top two teams will also qualify for the Madras Quiz later that afternoon. The Madras Quiz (Open) will be held the same afternoon and is open to participants of all ages.
Questions will cover everything from old Madras to present-day Chennai. The winners will take home Rs 50,000 and the Madras Quiz rolling trophy.
There will also be special prizes for the best women’s team and the best senior citizens’ team, while audience members can take part in spot prizes. Both quizzes will be hosted by veteran quizmaster Sumanth C Raman.
