CHENNAI: The protest against the construction of Chennai's second Airport entered its 54th day as residents of the village held a peaceful protest at night.

Around 500 residents of Ekanapuram village participated in the ongoing protest against the government, which has entered its 54th day on Sunday.

Residents of the village conducted a one-day hunger strike by waving black flags and raising slogans. Several people including men, women, and their children participated in the protest.

"Check posts have been installed by the police officials at several points and torturing us to show our identity proof each time we cross the point," says Raja, a resident of Ekanapuram village.
