Two killed in police encounter, another injured in separate incident of police opening fire

The deceased history sheeters were identified by the police as Muthusaravanan and Sathish.

CHENNAI: Two history sheeters, allegedly linked to the murder of AIADMK man Parthipan, were killed in anencounter by Avadi city police near Sholavaram during wee hours on Thursday.The deceased historysheeters were identified by the police as Muthusaravanan (33) and 'Sunday' Sathish.

Parthipanwas murdered by a gang on 17 August when he went out for a morning walk near Padiyanallur.

Police said that the two wanted suspects were hiding in a place in Kandigai in Sholavaram police station limits and when the police team tried nab them, they opened fire, injuring three cops. The police team retaliated and opened fire at the wanted suspects, killing them on the spot.

Muthusaravanan, one of the suspects, had at least six murder cases while 'Sunday' Sathish ( 25) had five murder cases pending against them.'Sunday' Sathish got his moniker from Nayur, near Sholavaram, where he was born. Both were allegedly involved in extortion and other anti-social activities, police said.

In another incident of police shooting in Chengalpattu, Thanikachalam, a 28-year-old history sheeter, from Periyapalayam has been injured and admitted to RGGGH early Thursday morning.Police opened fire at Thanikachalam when he tried to escape from police custody, said police.
