The accused, Sathya of TP Chathiram, an auto driver, held the post of ward secretary of the PMK. A father of two, he is said to have entered into a relationship with a Class 12 girl from the same locality. He allegedly sexually assaulted the minor on the promise of marrying her. After the girl informed her parents about what had happened, a complaint was lodged at Kilpauk all-women police station. The personnel from there picked up Sathya. He was arrested under Pocso Act after interrogation, said officials, adding that he was remanded in judicial custody.
