CHENNAI: Justice AD Jagadish Chandira of Madras HC on Friday modified the bail condition granted to stunt-choreographer and Hindu Munnani functionary Kanal Kannan who was recently let out on bail after he was arrested by the city police on charges of giving the threat to damage the Periyar statue situated at Sri Rangam.

The judge modified the bail conditions by suspending the earlier order of the High Court for eight days i.e., from September 10 to September 17. Earlier, while granting bail to Kannan, the court directed him to appear before the police twice a day for four weeks.

Justice Jagadish Chandira granted the interim relief to Kannan since he submitted that he has to participate in film shooting in Kerala for ten days.

While attending a Hindu Munnani meeting in Maduravoyal, Kannan gave threats to raze the statue of Periyar in Sri Rangam. On receiving the complaint from one Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam functionary, city police booked and arrested Kannan last month.
