Peddler held for selling ganja to students

The police arrested a 29-year-old man for supplying ganja near Chengalpattu on Monday. The arrested was identified as B Manoj Kumar of Thukumarakuttai village in Chengalpattu.

The Chengalpattu Town police got a tip-off that ganja was being supplied to school and college students in the locality and formed a special team.


On Monday night, a team on patrol noticed a man standing near the municipality dump yard and supplying ganja.


The police said that the accused escaped from the spot after spotting the police.


The team traced and arrested him by midnight.


The police searched his house and recovered half-a-kg of ganja.


Manoj was remanded in judicial custody and sent to Chengalpattu Sub Prison.


The police have registered a case and have also launched an investigation is to find if he has any accomplices. They are also trying to find his source of the contraband.
